Removing Hair Extensions

Now that you've had hair extensions for quite some while, it's probably time to change up your look a little bit.  It can get tiring having extra weight on your head that you yourself didn't grow, so it's probably time to remove them.

When removing hair extensions, you do not want to damage or lose any hair in the process.  You could always go to a professional, but do you really want to spend so much money just to remove hair that you possibly already spent money applying?  Of course, it all depends upon the method you had at first selected to apply your hair extensions.  Obviously if they are only clip in you know how to remove them quick as that.  If they are glued, many hair and beauty outlets sell solvents to dissolve the glue (but not your hair!!) and easily peel off the wefts.  There are as well traditional at home methods you can try as well, although a hair glue solvent isn't too expensive.  To go about removing hair extensions that were at first glued in whether by yourself, by a friend or a professional at home, all you need is water!  Simply run a nice bath for yourself and soak your weary head for a couple of hours and that should loosen the glue enough for you to be able to peel the tracks off.

When removing hair extensions that were sewn in, you definitely need a professional.  In fact, it is wise to go back to the original person (since you hardly put them in yourself!) who actually sewed the hair to your head.  They will remember the work they did, plus everyone has their own little twist on every method they might have mastered so only they will know the most efficient way to remove their handiwork.  Strand to strand bonded hair is a whole different matter and will also require a solvent-or simply a haircut.  A haircut is not wise for all methods of removing hair extensions as hair is usually bonded to your roots, but with strand to strand bonding that is not always the case.  We wish you luck with removing hair extensions!
